The Christian music school “Psalmodia Pays de Gex” opened its doors in September 2008 with 2 teachers, Anne Kennel and Valerie Chardon, teaching, respectively, the flute and the violin.

The pupils this year have been either adults or young people who already play the instrument at some level, or young beginners.
Lessons happen weekly in the church in Gex (Eglise de Réveil)

2009 also saw a concert by David Durham which was preceded by a worship workshop organised jointly by Virage and Psalmodia.

For the coming academic year 2009 – 2010 we are looking forward to welcoming a new teacher, David Porter, who will give piano, singing, and music theory lessons, either to individuals or in the form of workshops. He also hopes to set up a choir and to organise worship seminars during the year.

At the moment we have three churches who have offered us the use of their premises:

Gex – Evangelical Church (Eglise de Réveil)
Ferney-Voltaire – Crossroads Church
Prévessin – Protestant Evangelical Church

Our accounts are in good order.
At the beginning of the year, the number of teachers was below what we had expected, so this obviously affected the number of pupils we could cater for. We also did not have as many people join the association as we had hoped.
Because of this, we were obliged to ask various churches in the area if they could helps us financially, which they did, and we would like to thank them again.
For 2009 – 2010, we have had to increase our charges, which means that our tarifs are slightly higher than other music schools which often receive subsidies from their local council. It is difficult at the current moment to know what difference it will make to have one or possibly two new teachers or the impact that this may have on the number of pupils or association members.

We would like to thank everyone who supports the ministry of Psalmodia in prayer and to remind those who would like to help us financially, that it is possible to become a member of the association by paying an annual subscription charge of € 20.

Finally and above all, we would express our thanks to theLord Jesus, whose project this is and who has guided us step by step throughout the year.
